According to the World Health Organisation, electromagnetic fields of all frequencies are one of the most common and fastest growing environmental influences. Wireless radiation is now classified as a class 2b carcinogenic and levels are 100 million times higher than 50 years ago. Studies demonstrate that prolonged exposure to these unnatural frequencies can have adverse effects on human health.
Electro-stress, also labelled as electro-sensitivity, refers to the negative effects of EMFs (emitted by wireless electronic devices) on our bodies. Signs of electro-stress include headaches, concentration disorders, insomnia, mood swings, low energy, anxiety, stress, depression and unaccountable aches and pains.
As well as this, ongoing research considers whether the current electromagnetic load is a hidden factor in illnesses and disabilities such as attention deficit disorder, migraines, Parkinson’s, arrhythmia and cancer. Today, children are growing up in a world of electro-smog, unprotected to a lifetime of exposure. So what can we do?
Take a digital detox
Whether for a few hours, days, weeks or months, find the time to disconnect from your devices and disengage from the digital world. At the very least, think about switching your phone onto flight mode at bedtime – this could be enough to see a positive change.
Be cautious when reception is low
Studies have shown that using your phone in low reception areas can cause it to emit higher levels of EMF radiation, since it tries harder to find a signal. Try to play it safe and avoid using your phone when your reception bars drop.
Carry headphones or use speaker phone
Have you ever experienced hot ear after a phone call? All radiation has a heating effect, and the closer it is to your body, the stronger the effect. Consider using speaker phone during calls when possible, or use wired earphones if you prefer some privacy.
Avoid pocketing your phone
While scientists are yet to confirm a definitive link between phones and infertility, there are enough studies linking the two to warrant caution. Just like with hot ear, closer radiation distances mean increased health risks. Try to keep as far as possible from the source of radiation, carrying your phone in a bag rather than a pocket.
Harmonise your devices
If you don’t feel like switching off completely, our smartDOT retunes the unnatural frequencies emitted from electronic devices, whether that’s your wi-fi router, tablet or baby monitor, and helps to reduce the effects of electro-stress in day-to-day life.
